Transport Missions (Mission)

by alexburlton

Information

Accepting a transport mission is one of the various things you can do when you land on the surface of a planet. Transport missions will be found in houses, but only on certain coordinates. The alien will tell you where they want to go, and will tell you upfront how many minerals they can pay, as well as how many (if any) solid hydrogen capsules they can provide to speed up the journey. Once accepted, payment is made in advance and the transport destination will be listed alongside your other missions.

Mission Image/Text

Bring [alien name] to [coordinates].

Payment for this transportation has already been made. An emergency envelope will be used by [alien name] during his entire journey.

Mission Clear Text

null finally reached his destination! He thanks you warmly and leaves your emergency envelope.

Details

How to unlock mission: Agree to an alien's request of transport made on a planet's surface.

How to complete mission: Travel to the destination (be it a planet or a specific set of coordinates)

Reward: Minerals and/or Solid Hydrogen Capsules. The amount varies, depending on the distance, usually.

Notes

When transporting an alien, they will use up one of your spare envelopes. This means that during the period of transportation, you will have one less life than normal. For this reason, it is wise to not accept every transport mission you receive, as many aliens who wish to be transported are very far away.

In addition, it is important to know that sometimes aliens want to travel to a specific planet. In this case, whilst you may be given coordinates, these will be for the center of the planet and you will complete the mission by reaching any sector on the planet in question.
Each Transport Mission can only be completed once.

Passengers

Below is a list of passengers that you can pick up on various planets.

[PPS] = Price Per Sector / Pay Per Sector

(Note:  This calculation does not factor in the worth of any and all SHC that may be rewarded.)

Holovan

[-152][108] and [-147][106] both want to go to Tiboon.

[-151][112] and [-150][110] both want to go to Spignysos (but the former will not reward you with anything).

Khorlan

[177][-196] and [181][-195] both want to go to Soupaline.

Lycans

[0][7] and [3][14] both want to go to D-Tritus.

Moltear

[-60][36] and [-56][40] both want to go to Douriv.

[-59][38] and [-52][38] both want to go to Soupaline.

Nalikors

Figured that might be helpful. I got all my info from moneymaker's minemap. I didn't look at some of the really far planets but I might do that at a later date. Or someone else could add them if they want to. :D

I added the remaining planets. Now a map showing all possible transportation routes would be nice...

This page's title should have "(Mission)" at the end of it, seeing as it is listed in the Missions page?

kyborek said

I will try to add lengths of travels so this page will be much more usefull, also someone please try to add if the trip can be finished after some requirements. So informations will look like this for example:
[-60][36] wants to go to Douriv, will pay 1794 minerals and 10 SHC. (faction split, 153 sectors)

decisa said

at 4:01 pm on Nov 12, 2009

I think PPS will be a good addition to the list. Sort of coefficient of efficiency =)

decisa said

at 4:07 pm on Nov 12, 2009

Just an idea :
maybe someone wants to transform this into a table, with invisible borders for a better look (formatting, so everything will be aligned), with fields like:
source , destination, minerals, SHC, sectors, PPS

plus there could be a very helpful field "Direction Of Travel", which can be an image with an arrow, showing approximate direction to your destination.

LayzAyzn said

at 8:39 pm on Nov 13, 2009

I love the new format. :)
I suggest, however, that the PPS (pay per sector) aspect should be ignored, as some passengers pay only or also in SHC, which will increase/decrease their worth making it more subjective and less objective.
After the tables for each planet are done, I think it would be alright to remove the text list below it.

decisa said

at 9:49 pm on Nov 13, 2009

thank you =)

i'm not saying that PPS should serve as a main criterion for the choice. you should take into consideration : your current direction of travel, difficulty of the area you're traveling to (in the areas far away from origin one extra envelope is often crucial), PPS and of course extra SHC's .. everybody loves em =)

decisa said

at 10:23 pm on Nov 13, 2009

uhm.. I've got a question : How did you calculate distance to a planet? To the center or to the closest point?

lets say the very first mission : [-9][1] to Douriv. Douriv's center is [-84][-102] distance is 178. Where did we get 169 from?

LayzAyzn said

at 11:52 pm on Nov 13, 2009

Extra Notes
In addition, it is important to know that sometimes aliens want to travel just to a specific planet. In this case, whilst you may be given coordinates, these will be for the center of the planet and you will complete the mission by reaching any sector on the planet in question.

LayzAyzn said

at 11:59 pm on Nov 13, 2009

Also, on my screen (and perhaps others'), it looks like PPS gets cut off. To view it, one would have to scroll down, scroll to the right, and then scroll back up. I honestly think that many people will not even notice it. However, I can't imagine much harm coming from it, but it seems like more work than worth.

decisa said

at 1:19 am on Nov 14, 2009

oh I see .. I don't have this issue because of the widescreen. tomorrow I will adjust everything so it will fit into 1024*768 screen.
sorry for that :)

kyborek said

at 11:54 am on Nov 14, 2009

Oh yes, i like new look. I am not good at formatting so i hope someone will finish it for every planet. And i know that distances look like inaccurate but i wanted distances to be as accurate as possible and so i opened a map and calculated distance to the NEAREST sector of the planet (if planet), not to the center. One more idea from me now, if you added PPS, and you get paid with SHCs sometimes, then why not add pay per sector of SHCs? just to compare. I think that people seeing guides on this wiki are clever enought to know that payment is not the only factor and so they will think about it. We will just give them one more number to think about if they want =)

kyborek said

at 12:29 pm on Nov 14, 2009

nah its stupid to put PPS of SHCs... for example :
[-9][1] wants to go to Douriv, will pay 1133 minerals and 11 SHC.(faction split,169 sectors) PPS = 6.70
11 SHCs per 169 sectors is 0,065.
Those number would all be like 0,000something and all those zeros would be annoying. I think that if we would still want to add it. It should be multiplied by 100, and somewhere on top of page there would be BRIGHTLY noted that it is multiplied by 100. Then then numbers would be like 6,5 and it is much better number than 0,065 (btw. i think no-one want numbers like 6,5E-2)

decisa said

at 11:00 pm on Nov 14, 2009

well.. if we dig into math , then this might be useful:

let's look at the 1st mission [-9][1] to Douriv([-79][-98])
a). which is 169 sectors of travelling.
b). direction of travel - diagonal, which means you can use your Generator at full power
c). V5 (not too expensive) travels 6 sectors per capsule, which means you need 169/6 = 29 capsules to reach the destination
d). alien gives you 11 free :) which makes you use only 29-11=18 extra capsules
e) 1133/18 = 63 extra minerals per extra capsule spent

Considering no one else had edited the page about a week, the planets as well as the aliens were randomly ordered, and a good amount of them were either missing, incomplete, or incorrect, I thought I'd go ahead and edit.

In any case, I finished the table. :)

one more thing to do is : link planets to their corresponding pages ;)

I added it next to Missions. It's under the WIP section for now, as the Missions are incomplete, but both will be moved when the Missions are finished.

No, once an alien has been transported, you can't do it again. There are people who have done every single transport mission.

I arrived on Cilorile and planned to take all 3 passengers southwest with me towards my next cleanup. Instead, I was surprised to notice that one of them was not there any more - I must have given him a ride at some point earlier! I looked through my previous missions, but all it gives you are the names and locations, it doesn't say where you picked them up from. So I thought it would be useful to have a list of the names so that you can go through and see if you've already done the mission or not. I believe each passenger has a unique name - the six that I have done so far all have, at least. Then hopefully this will reduce waste so that people don't try to pick up passengers that they may have forgotten they already got!
