The generator is an item which allows your envelope to move throughout the universe by converting hydrogen into fuel. At the beginning, your generator is still V0. To upgrade it to V1, You will have to beat the entry test to get it. Then, you will be able to move one sector per hydrogen capsule.
Upgrading a generator
Upgrading a generator at a merchant to V1 will finish "A New Generator" mission. Every upgrade will allow you to move one more sector per hydrogen capsule (at least if the zone you want to approach is in the radar). You will get a permanent +1 upgrade if you land on Earth and choose to stay in 'Normal Mode'. The strongest generator known is the V7.
You are also allowed to skip generators (ex: If you have the V1, skip the V2, and buy the V3, you would have the moving capabilites of a V3).

Can you buy a V3 generator if you have only a V1? if so does it allow you to move the same amount as if you bought a v2 then v3?
